Coming Out of the Fog

After about 6 months of fighting with the insurance company over ketamine we finally gave into the insurance company’s suggestion that we needed to change my anti-depressant a few more times before we moved to ketamine.

And just like that gradually the fog started to lift and the clouds started to dissipate. It wasn’t instant by any means. Gradually I started staying awake on Saturdays and Sundays. I’d wake before my alarm instead of snoozing endlessly until I absolutely had to get up for work…at noon. And I used to accidentally oversleep for work despite going to bed at 9 PM. Next I began to have more to say, having an easier time with small talk. Then I decided to start organizing. I hired a professional organizer to help me declutter my 900 sq ft apartment which had become full to the brim as I had let my accountability partner, the cleaners, go during Covid. I would open packages and just leave the boxes at the side of my bed. There were just narrow walking paths through my apartment. My closet was a mess. We threw out over 20 bags of garbage and donated another 20. Most importantly we got my space organized so everything had a place and I knew where to put it. It was a long hard weekend but I felt lighter after it was done – and promptly hired cleaners again to help me stay on track.

Next up was my digital organization/productivity – find out how I tackled 22,000+ unread work emails in my next post.
